Run Lola Run : Presentation Self Assement
I thought, for possessing the current knowledge i HAD in sound, that I did rather well in my Run Lola Run Presentation. Take note, that I had no idea the importance of sound in a film and thus did not understand the concept of what i had to do. I willingly accepted this category, not because i wanted to cause myself trouble but the lack of knowledge i had in Sound made me feel unprofessional and weak as a student. On my own time, I reviewed key concepts of sound. How it's incorporated in a film. In what ways it can be harnessed to add emotion and feeling to a film. I also learned terminology that was related to the sound unit. I utilized all the references given to me to make a fantastic presentation that expressed the skills that I had acquired in a few days time.
I evaluated the film on how I saw it. Surely some of the words I used might contradict what others believe, but I was merely covering sound so there wasn't any inflammatory comments being made. I covered many parts of my presentation, starting off with a short description of what the film was about and who tho author was. I had assumed that I was presenting to a group who never watched the movie and had not jumped into the details of the film. After I had given the basics, I demonstrated my key understanding of the sound elements of the film. I used the correct terminology to reference back to the film, and included references and quotes to further push my direct meaning. Also, I presented a certain flow, starting with the general editing techniques used in sound and backing them up with screenshots or quotes. And my critique was not biased, and I had kept a very critical eye while watching the movie.
If there were flaws to be pointed out in my presentation, it would be the very fact that I am not confident whatsoever in my voice. TRY SAYING RUN LOLA RUN 8 BAJILLION TIMES IN ONE DAY.MY voice had wavered while i was talking about my presentation, constantly stuttering, mumbling, and in all taking away from all the hard work and research i had done. Also, since my project was based on a factual unit like sound, I had no opportunity to dive in deeper to the meanings and motifs used in the film. I wanted to discuss more, but since sound was my main idea that was all i had done. I did a pretty sub-standard job with my presentation, but I know for certain I could've done better. However I'm still learning, and I will learn from these mistakes to make myself a better student and a better educator.
An excellent analysis and thoughtful commentary!
