I. Girls with Guns (action/adventure)

2) Resident Evil
Kill Bill

Grindhouse/Planet Terror

3)Narrative Convention: Most "Girls With Guns" movies go in a chronological structural format. The beginning usually begins with the present, revealing the character. Then suddenly presents a flashback revealing her past. Often reveals how the protagonist has developed since the opening sequence.
4)Typical situation: innocent young woman going on her daily life. But she keeps a secret, she’s secretly a combat specialist and is educated in self defense and weaponry. She seeks revenge for her past, or saves the world with her fighting skills.
Typical dress: absolutely revealing. Maintaining a perfect combination of sex appeal, and the ability to kill someone. Usually directed towards a male audience, thus the woman would be more exposed and very provocative. Despite all that uncomfortable clothing she still manages to walk and battle in them.
Typical characters: mainly female protagonist throughout the whole story. She does not play the damsel however, and the genders could be reversed so that she ends up rescuing the men instead. The male role would either be a menial role or the love-interest. There would be side characters that provide obstacles, or comrades that aid the girl. However, the story would revolve around the life of the female.
Typical setting: post-apocalyptic world or secret society where violence is appreciated. Peace no longer exists, and everyone in the world is out to get the protagonist. Not stationary in one place, since the characters might escapade on a grand adventure around the world.
Typical plots: introduced to girl and not much is known / goes through a transformation and uses her weaponry to kill / (good ending) saving those or protecting her values.

II. Survival (horror/action/adventure/dancechoir)
2) Battle Royale
Speed

   Cast Away

3) Narrative Convention : Main character is revealed, begins with a very traumatic experience leaving the character scarred or in much more different society.

4)Typical situations: character is stranded on an island. Character is forced to take leader position in order to esnure not only the safety of themself but the safety of others (if present.) Character is underdog and goes under dramatic transformation.
Typical Body Language : Tough, rugged, not elegant. Not only in top physical health but extremely cunning and can think on the spot. The relaxed suave character, that has a hidden past or is very mysterious. Usually male survivor. Looks fearful, but is very strong and reliant in themselves.

Typical dialogue : “We need to survive. And i will do anything in order to get back home.” “I’ll kill you!” “I’m the type to rescue others before myself, and die a renown hero.” “I’m tough and rugged, but have a heart of gold.”
Typical historical setting: Present Day. By using this time period, the audience can relate and feel as if their in the experience/action as well. or can be in a certain time period, where some nations are not industrialized and thus the character has more of a struggle surviving. Typical object or equipment: very limited resources. One weapon. An enemy that is overpowered and has many advangtanges against the protoganist. Casual clothes, survival gear if lucky. A memento item, that causes them to continue fighting for a cause.

III. Chick Flicks (Drama)
2)The Notebook

Ghost

Legally Blonde

3) Narrative Convention: The tragic love story between two characters, and their struggles to commit to one another. They journey through time and love itself, to transcend themselves and come to truly appreciate what they value in life. Often follows the chronological sequence.
4)Typical characters : extremely pretty girl, who is very popular and has a stunning beauty as a character. Their love interest who is equally as handsome, and talented. The ex/antagonist who tries to get close to the character only to foil their plans and ruin their life. Best friend character who helps with plot prorgression and character development.
Typical plots : boy and girl in love / something tears them apart and they spent the whole entire movie trying to return to their partner / characters feel satisfied with all their achievements and find new love or return to old love
Typical Situations : character loses their memory, character dies, characters are separated due to distance, character strives to be worthy of their partner, character is invisible to their partner, comedic character change, love scenes, tear-jerking moments, cheating on others, hugging scenes, sad music playing, and sudden changes in weather.
Typical setting : A city, anywhere between two people, two seperate lives (people’s houses.) Warm setting with beautiful backgrounds and scenery. Popular Landmarks (eiffel tower, golden gate bridge, Memorials), and flashforwards from the past and years later where the scenery is all old or bright.
Typical look or style : High key lighting, a lot of light to express character emotion. No back lighting, since it’s not a horror film or of that sort. Heavily reliant on Medium Shots and Closups to emphasize emotions. Bright scenes, lens flare, to give that happy sense in the film.
